Dr Ronen Ben-Jacob
Dr Ronen Ben Jacob is a gastroenterologist based in Sydney. He provides consultations in all gastroenterology fields and has a special interest in functional gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, pelvic floor dysfunction (faecal incontinence, defaecation disorder), chronic constipation and diarrhoea, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and oesophageal disorders (achalasia, swallowing difficulties). In addition, he specialises in the interpretation of oesophageal manometry, anorectal manometry and oesophageal pH monitoring.
Dr Ben Jacob graduated medical studies with the highest honour overseas. He then continued his training to become an Internal Medicine specialist and a Gastroenterology and Hepatology specialist. His passion for functional gastrointestinal disorders led him to complete a Neurogastroenterology and Motility Fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. In addition, he completed a Pelvic Floor Fellowship at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, specialising in pelvic floor ultrasound and the management of pelvic floor dysfunction.
Dr Ben Jacob is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and is a GESA-certified provider in diagnostic and therapeutic adult gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He is highly involved in research and academic teaching in the Neurogastroenterology and Motility field and presented his research at multiple international and national conferences.
Dr Ben Jacob strongly believes that managing gastrointestinal disorders must include a multidisciplinary approach, addressing not only the abnormality but also the patient’s well-being and lifestyle. He enjoys being there for his patients and uses a compassionate, empathic and dedicated approach in their care. In his view, listening and empowering his patients to understand their symptoms can significantly improve their quality of life.
Dr Ben Jacob has private rooms in Double Bay and Liverpool. He performs private endoscopic procedures at Central Sydney Private Hospital and Liverpool Day Surgery. He is bilingual and speaks fluent English and Hebrew.
